Best battery for a Starlink Mini: the smallest one that works

Size by hours, not by brand. These are battery classes sized from Starlink’s watts and our stated assumptions; brand picks wait for bench results.

  • Numbers checked
  • Bench results pending: classes, not brands
Quick answer

Pick by hours: about 1 h 48 min from a 99 Wh USB-C bank, about 9 h 48 min from a 512 Wh station, about 25 h 54 min from a 12 V 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery, at the top of Starlink’s range (40 W Official spec: From a Starlink specification sheet or help article. Checked Oct 5, 2026). Real use is often lower, so these are the safe numbers.

Bench status

Our battery delivery tests haven’t been run yet (bench). Until then these are battery classes, sized with planning assumptions Planning assumption: Our stated assumption, used until bench results replace it. We haven’t used a Mini ourselves.

What to check on the label

  • A 100 W USB-C PD port (20 V / 5 A) or a 12 V DC port. Use those before the AC outlet.
  • Wh, not mAh. Convert mAh with the basics guide.
  • LiFePO4 chemistry for anything you’ll cycle daily. Makers rate it deep: Battle Born lists 100% usable depth of discharge for its 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery.
  • Pass-through charging if it will sit on solar or a car charger while running the Mini.

Starlink’s position: Starlink only guarantees Mini performance with the included Starlink power supply and cable. It also says In its aviation section Starlink says the Mini can be powered by a battery that meets its power requirements, and runs on 110 VAC or 12-48 VDC, 60 W.

What sellers claim

Shown for comparison only. They usually assume a lower draw than our planning figure.

When this is the wrong choice

  • A big station is the wrong buy if you only need an hour or two: a 99 Wh bank covers that and fits in a bag.
  • A power bank is the wrong buy for 24/7 use, or for the Standard dish.
  • Any battery is the wrong plan for multi-day off-grid use without a way to recharge: add solar.

Questions people ask

What is the best battery for a Starlink Mini?

The smallest one that covers your hours. At the top of Starlink’s range: a 99 Wh, 100 W USB-C bank runs it about 1 h 48 min; a 512 Wh power station about 9 h 48 min; a 12 V 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery about 25 h 54 min. We don’t name brands until our bench has measured them.

How long will a Jackery, EcoFlow or Bluetti run a Mini?

Take the station’s Wh, use about 85% of it, and divide by the Mini’s draw at the battery (about 44.4 W at the top of Starlink’s range on USB-C or 12 V). Makers’ own runtime claims often assume a lower draw: we show them labeled as vendor claims.

Is a 12 V LiFePO4 battery better than a power station?

More Wh per dollar and longer life, but you need to fuse, wire and charge it yourself. A power station is simpler and has USB-C and AC built in.
