What changed
On November 13, 2025, the CPSC announced Belkin’s recall of about 83,500 units in the US, plus about 2,385 in Canada (recall 26-090). Three products are covered:
- BPB002 Portable Power Bank (black)
- PB0003 Portable Power Bank (black or white)
- MMA008 Portable Wireless Charging Stand (black)
“The lithium-ion battery in the power banks and charging stands can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”
The CPSC lists one fire incident in the US and 15 reports outside the US, with two minor burn injuries and $37,765 in property damage reported outside the US. The products were sold at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Belkin.com, Amazon.com and TikTok from August 2020 to August 2025, priced from $29 to $180. The CPSC notice says to stop using them and contact Belkin for a full refund or store credit.
Who it affects
Owners of the three model numbers above. Belkin makes many chargers; only these three are named.
The CPSC notice doesn’t list the output wattage of the recalled power banks, so we can’t say from the notice whether either could run a Starlink Mini. Starlink’s requirement is a USB PD source of at least 100 W at 20 V and 5 A, and Starlink says the Mini won’t run on sources rated 65 W or lower. If you were using a Belkin bank for your Mini, check the model number regardless.
What it means for your power setup
If a recalled bank was your Mini’s USB-C power source, you need a replacement that meets the 100 W PD requirement. That’s where people often go wrong: plenty of banks have a USB-C port, and far fewer can deliver 100 W continuously through Starlink’s cable. Our USB-C power bank guide explains what to read on the label, and the bench page explains why label watt-hours and delivered watt-hours differ.
If it was a phone bank in the same bag, the advice is simpler: stop using it and get the refund. Our batteries hub covers the three battery types for a Mini.
What to do
- Check the model number on any Belkin power bank or charging stand: BPB002, PB0003 or MMA008.
- If it matches, stop using it, per the CPSC notice.
- Contact Belkin for a refund or store credit: 800-223-5546 (9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday), belkin.com/BPB002recall, belkin.com/MMA008recall, or the “Product Recalls” page on belkin.com.
- Dispose of the recalled unit through a household hazardous waste site that accepts lithium batteries.
What stays the same
- Belkin products other than the three named: not part of this recall.
- Starlink’s USB-C power requirement for the Mini: unchanged.
- Our bench list: unchanged; no Belkin product on it is affected.
What we don’t know yet
- The capacity and output ratings of the recalled power banks. The CPSC notice doesn’t list them.
- The cause of the overheating. The notice doesn’t say.
Values from our data files
These render from the site’s fact store, with where each came from and when we checked it.
- To power the Mini over USB-C, Starlink requires a USB PD source of at least 100 W (20 V / 5 A), using Starlink's USB-C to barrel jack cable. Official spec: From a Starlink specification sheet or help article. Checked Oct 5, 2026 (checked )
