What changed
On September 3, 2026, the CPSC announced Truststone Group’s recall of about 32,400 XO Poppy Power Trip Magnetic Wireless Power Banks, model PYPBK5M (recall 26-740). They come in three versions, identified by appearance and packaging:
- cream (PY-PBK5M-CR2)
- cream with a pink bow print (PY-PBK5M-BW8)
- black with a teddy bear print (PY-PBK5M-TB2)
The specific model number is printed on the bottom of the original packaging, just above the barcode. The CPSC’s hazard statement:
“The lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”
No injuries were reported. The power banks were sold only at TJX and Marshalls stores nationwide from April 2025 through March 2026, for about $15. The remedy is a full refund in the form of a virtual gift card that can be used anywhere that accepts Mastercard. Truststone Group of New York imported them; they were made in Vietnam.
Who it affects
Anyone who bought an XO Poppy Power Trip magnetic power bank at TJX or Marshalls. It’s a small magnetic phone charger, the kind that rides on the back of a phone, in a pocket or in a bag.
It can’t run a Starlink Mini. Starlink requires a USB PD source of at least 100 W for the Mini; a magnetic wireless phone bank isn’t built for that. We cover it because a Mini kit tends to travel with a handful of smaller lithium packs, and every one of them matters on a plane or in a hot car.
What it means for your power setup
Nothing changes about powering the dish. Our USB-C power bank guide covers which banks meet Starlink’s requirement, and the batteries hub covers when a power station makes more sense.
The practical point is the one the recent run of power bank recalls keeps making: brand and price don’t tell you much. Check the model number of every small bank you carry, especially gift-shop and discount-store buys you don’t remember the source of. If you fly with your Mini kit, a recalled bank also uses up one of your allowed power banks; see flying with a Mini.
What to do
- Look for an XO Poppy Power Trip magnetic power bank in cream, cream with pink bows, or black with teddy bears. If you still have the box, the model number is above the barcode.
- If it matches, stop using it, per the CPSC notice.
- Contact Truststone Group for the refund: 833-820-0888 (8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday), xopowerbank@realtimeresults.net, or recallrtr.com/xopowerbank (“Important Recall Information”).
- Don’t throw it in the trash, curbside recycling or a store battery-recycling box. The CPSC advises calling your local household hazardous waste site first to ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.
What stays the same
- Starlink’s 100 W USB PD requirement for the Mini: unchanged.
- Other XO or Poppy-branded products: not named in this recall.
- No product on our bench list is affected.
What we don’t know yet
- The power bank’s capacity and output rating. The CPSC notice doesn’t state them.
- How many incidents led to the recall. The notice reports no injuries but doesn’t give a count of overheating reports.
Values from our data files
These render from the site’s fact store, with where each came from and when we checked it.
- To power the Mini over USB-C, Starlink requires a USB PD source of at least 100 W (20 V / 5 A), using Starlink's USB-C to barrel jack cable. Official spec: From a Starlink specification sheet or help article. Checked Oct 5, 2026 (checked )
