What changed

This is our first data release. We published three things on October 5, 2026:

  • The watts table. Published watt readings from Starlink’s spec sheets and help center for the Mini, the Standard dish and the router, plus dated community measurements. Each row is labeled with where it came from (official spec, community report or vendor claim) and when we checked it. It downloads as CSV.
  • Sun hours by state. Monthly sun hours for one reference city in each state, from NASA POWER. They drive the solar sizing on solar sizing by state and in the calculator, and they download as CSV.
  • The battery bench protocol. How we’ll measure what a power bank or power station actually delivers at the Mini’s input, compared with its label. The bench page shows the method and the status of each test. No bench test has been run yet, and the page says so.

Who it affects

Readers sizing a battery or solar setup, and anyone citing our numbers. Every number on the site traces back to these files.

What it means for your power setup

Nothing changes in the real world; this is the baseline that later updates will be measured against. When a Starlink spec changes or a bench test finishes, the change shows up in these files first, then on the pages that use them, then in a news post if a reader would act on it.

What to do

  1. Download the CSVs if you want to check our math.
  2. If you spot an error, tell us through the corrections page.

What stays the same

  • Starlink’s specs themselves: we report them, we don’t change them.

What we don’t know yet

  • Real delivered-capacity numbers for any battery. Those come with the first bench tests; until then, battery runtimes use a stated planning assumption, labeled as such.
